PROGRESSION ILLUSTRATING THE HAND CARVING OF A JADE TENDRIL

Drawn up

From a cored out disc to the initial grinding…. and the start of hand tooling with an electric micro-motor hand piece.

Halfway there and into hand finishing…

There is a small, suspension hole concealed under the tendril
to prevent the cord from slipping along the tapering tendril causing the piece to hang out of balance.

Hiya Chris,
Welcome, good to see you here. Look forward to meeting up at the Jade Fest. in Oct. and sharing more with you guys at the following workshop experience. Knowing your interest in Tiki you may like to check these.
Seeing how you progress from initial drawing, through sawing and grinding, to final polish is really helping me plan my work and see what I should be doing. And all my mistakes make me appreciate all the good carving that I see.
I was interested in the hand-shaped tools also and found them here http://www.donnsalt.com/UROBOROS/Uros_docs/Uroboros_22.htm
in the descriptions of carving the uroboros.
Thanks,
chris
I apologize for the statement about the hand shaped tools, I guess my old age is creeping up on me and my head was spinning with all the beautiful work and talent on these pages I guess my mind was just in some strange place where nothing makes sense. I’ll try to show more self control in the future. It’s just that I am So taken with all this “Stuff” and I appreciate what goes into making it. Thank you.
Hey Ben, Welcome….. I’m unclear on “the hand made Shaping tools you mentioned earlier in this post but is no longer found.” ???
Although couple of corrections have been made and a link to the ‘tools‘ page showing a micro motor unit which is part of the process.
Definitely a much needed sequence for newbies like me, Thanks.
I am really interested in seeing the hand made Shaping tools you mentioned earlier in this post but is no longer found. I am Always interested in seeing new and creative tools and seeing tools used in creative, non intended ways.
Also waiting for the “Show us how” part.
Awesome sequence! When you goining to show us how?
